There are several reasons why Pele never played in Europe.

One reason is that at the time Pele was playing, the soccer leagues in Europe were not as strong as they are today. The major European leagues, such as the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, and Italian Serie A, did not have the same level of financial resources and global appeal as they do now. This made it less attractive for top players like Pele to play in Europe.

Another reason is that Pele was already a global superstar by the time he reached his prime as a player. He had already won three World Cups with the Brazilian national team and had played for top clubs in Brazil, such as Santos and New York Cosmos. He may have simply been content with his career and not felt the need to test himself in Europe.

It is also possible that Pele simply preferred to stay in Brazil and the United States, where he had already achieved great success and was widely recognized and admired. He may have felt that moving to Europe would have disrupted his personal and professional life and that he had nothing left to prove as a player.
