Governor Obaseki of Edo State has offered to pay for the medical treatment of those injured in a robbery attack on the Sunshine Stars team bus.
The attack took place on December 8th as the team was traveling to Benin City for a match against Bendel Insurance. A ball boy was shot and other players and officials were also affected.
The Governor’s office has released a statement saying that he is “deeply saddened by this incident” and that he has “directed the relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The Sunshine Stars have thanked the Governor for his support and said that they are “determined to overcome this setback and continue to fight for success on the pitch.
