Fulham succumbed to a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Despite spirited performances from Alex Iwobi, who found the net for the Cottagers, and Calvin Bassey in defense, Fulham were unable to snatch a point on the road.
The opening half saw both sides struggling to break through each other’s defenses, resulting in a goalless stalemate at the break. However, the second half unfolded with more drama.
Wolverhampton took the lead through Rayan Aït-Nouri in the 52nd minute, putting the home team in front. Fulham’s efforts to equalize were then dealt a further blow when an own goal by Tom Cairney doubled Wolves’ advantage.
While Fulham continued to fight for a way back into the game, they were ultimately unable to find a second goal. The defeat leaves them pondering what might have been after a promising performance.
Both Iwobi and Bassey were bright spots for Fulham. Iwobi’s goal showcased his attacking threat, while Bassey provided solidity at the back. However, their individual efforts were not enough to overcome a determined Wolves side.
