Arsenal’s new signing Kai Havertz had a frustrating debut performance as the Gunners beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 in their Premier League opener on Saturday.
The German international was brought in from Chelsea for a fee of £65 million in the summer transfer window, but he struggled to make an impact against Forest.
Havertz had few chances to create or score goals. He was also dispossessed on several occasions.
Arsenal fans were left frustrated by Havertz’s performance, and many took to social media to express their disappointment.
“I’m not sure what Havertz is supposed to offer us,” one fan tweeted. “He’s been anonymous all game.”
Another fan said: “Havertz is a shadow of the player he was at Chelsea. He’s been a huge disappointment so far.”
Havertz will have a chance to redeem himself when Arsenal face Crystal Palace on Monday.
