Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed admiration for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres but refrained from discussing potential transfer rumors.
Ahead of the Gunners’ crucial Champions League clash against Sporting, Arteta emphasized the importance of focusing on the task at hand.
“I would like to talk about the team, about the coaches, and how phenomenal they have been,” Arteta said during his pre-match press conference. “The run they are in is incredible. I understand the question, but they have a lot of individual qualities. And yes, in that specific position, they have great players.”
Rather than dwelling on potential transfer targets, Arteta turned his attention to the challenges posed by the Champions League. The Champions League is about boxes, small margins, and details,” he explained.
You have to get all of those right to win, especially away from home. We’ve made the right steps, like how we played against Inter. We dominated that game, but the reality is we didn’t make it count. Now, we have to take those next steps—be ruthless, be efficient, and do what’s necessary to secure three points away from home.”
Arsenal will be looking to build on their recent positive form and secure a crucial victory against Sporting CP to strengthen their position in the Champions League group stage.
