Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, has expressed his commitment to nurturing the career of Ethan Nwaneri, the club’s youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer. The 17-year-old midfielder netted his first top-flight goal in the Gunners’ 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Arteta praised Nwaneri’s intelligence and the trust he commands among his teammates. He emphasized the importance of a gradual development for the young talent, likening it to building a structure brick by brick.
His first Premier League goal is another brick,” Arteta said. “Then we have to add another layer of cement… if you do five bricks, it won’t work.”
The Arsenal boss acknowledged the challenge of balancing Nwaneri’s development with the demands of top-flight football. He stressed the need for patience and careful management of the youngster’s career.
“We have to be very patient, very clever, and protect him,” Arteta added. “He’s a special talent, and we want to make sure he has a long and successful career at Arsenal.”
