Former CHAN Eagles player, Barnabas Imenger Jr., has encouraged Nigeria’s current CHAN squad to take advantage of the reported struggles within the Ghanaian camp and secure qualification for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
In an exclusive interview with Brila.net, Imenger highlighted the ongoing crisis in the Ghanaian national team, urging Nigeria’s players to focus on maximizing this opportunity instead of being solely driven by the intense rivalry between the two nations.
“Right now, the Ghanaian national team is in crisis; they’ve been having difficulties,” Imenger remarked. “I urge the Nigerian boys to capitalize on that and go all out to win the game. Football is all about winning, and Nigerians have a never-say-die spirit.”
Imenger further emphasized that while the Ghana-Nigeria rivalry is long-standing, the current state of the Ghanaian team presents a chance for Nigeria to dominate. “Ghanaians have always been our rivals, but with their current situation, even their B team might struggle. We should aim for nothing short of victory,” he added.
With both teams vying for a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, the pressure is on Nigeria to deliver a strong performance. Imenger’s words serve as a rallying cry for the squad to capitalize on any weaknesses in their opponent’s camp and make a bold push for qualification.
