The preliminary draws for the 2023/24 season of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The draw for the CAF Confederation Cup will be conducted first, followed by the CAF Champions League draw. Both draws will start at 11:00 GMT.
A total of 54 clubs from 42 member associations will compete in the CAF Champions League, while 52 clubs representing 41 member associations will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will be played in two legs, with the first legs scheduled for August 8-10, 2023 and the second legs scheduled for August 15-17, 2023.
The winners of the preliminary round matches will advance to the first round of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, respectively.
The first round of the CAF Champions League will be played in two legs, with the first legs scheduled for September 12-14, 2023 and the second legs scheduled for September 19-21, 2023.
The winners of the first round matches will advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League, which will be played in a single round-robin format.
The group stage of the CAF Champions League will be played from October 17 to December 1, 2023. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage of the competition.
The knockout stage of the CAF Champions League will consist of the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. The quarterfinals will be played in two legs, with the first legs scheduled for April 5-7, 2024 and the second legs scheduled for April 12-14, 2024.
The semifinals will be played in two legs, with the first legs scheduled for April 26-28, 2024 and the second legs scheduled for May 3-5, 2024.
The final of the CAF Champions League will be played on May 19, 2024 at a venue to be announced later.
