The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected the Cape Coast Stadium as the venue for Medeama SC’s CAF Champions League group stage matches.

This comes after a recent inspection by CAF found the stadium unsuitable for senior international matches.

The decision is a blow to Medeama, who had hoped to play their home games at the Cape Coast Stadium, which is the largest and most modern stadium in Ghana. However, CAF’s inspection found that the stadium did not meet the required standards in a number of areas, including seating capacity, media facilities, and pitch quality.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Ghanaian FA officials and players shared $9 million in World Cup money, while no investment was made to develop and maintain football facilities in the country.

The state of the Cape Coast Stadium, which is the best stadium in the country, is a testament to the neglect of football infrastructure in Ghana. The stadium was closed for renovation a few months ago, but the work has not been completed, and the stadium is now in a state of disrepair.

The CAF rejection of the Cape Coast Stadium and the revelation that FA officials and players shared World Cup money without investing any of it in football facilities are both major scandals. They highlight the corruption and mismanagement that is rife in Ghanaian football.
