Manchester City forward Chloe Kelly has been hailed a hero for telling media to “f*** off” as she selflessly helped a player on an opposing team.
The Lionesses played one woman down after Lauren James was sent off the field for stamping on an opponent’s back. In the penalty shootout, Kelly scored the winning goal, but instead of celebrating, she ran over to block a cameraman from capturing the agony on Nigerian keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie’s face.
Social media erupted, as fans went wild for the “classy” act. Kelly’s teammate, Lucy Bronze, said, “That was a really classy move from Chloe. It shows the character of the team.”
Kelly herself said after the match, “I just wanted to help Chiamaka out. She’s a great keeper and she didn’t deserve to have that moment captured on camera.”
Kelly’s actions are a reminder that even in the heat of competition, there is always room for sportsmanship and compassion. She is a true role model for young players everywhere.
