Manchester City kicked off their 2023/24 Premier League season in style with a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Burnley at Turf Moor.

Erling Haaland was the star of the show, scoring twice in the first half to put City in control. The Norwegian striker needed just three minutes to open the scoring, tapping home from close range after Kevin De Bruyne’s cross was headed back across goal by Rodri.

Haaland doubled his tally in the 25th minute, firing home a first-time shot from inside the area after being played through by Jack Grealish.

City continued to dominate after the break and Rodri added a third goal in the 68th minute, lashing home after the ball broke loose in the box.

Burnley’s misery was compounded in stoppage time when Anass Zaroury was sent off for a high challenge on Kyle Walker.

The result was a perfect start for City, who are looking to win a fourth consecutive Premier League title this season.

Haaland was in devastating form, scoring two goals and making a number of other dangerous chances. The Norwegian striker is already looking like a bargain signing for City, and he will be a major threat to the rest of the Premier League this season.

Burnley were disappointing on their return to the Premier League, but they will be hoping to bounce back from this defeat in their next game against Brentford.
