Folarin Balogun is expected to complete his move to AS Monaco on Tuesday after the two clubs agreed a €45m deal, bonuses included.
The 22-year-old striker has been on the radar of several European clubs after a successful loan spell at Ligue 1 side Reims last season, where he scored 21 goals in 37 appearances.
Balogun is a product of the Arsenal academy and has been with the club since the age of eight. He made his first-team debut in 2020 but struggled to break into the regular starting lineup.
The move to Monaco will give Balogun the chance to play regular first-team football and showcase his talents at a higher level. He will also be reunited with former Arsenal teammates.
Balogun is the latest in a long line of young English players to move to Ligue 1 in recent years. The French league is seen as a good place for young players to develop their game and get regular playing time.
Balogun is expected to undergo his medical in Monaco on Tuesday and sign his contract shortly thereafter. He is likely to be available for selection for Monaco’s next Ligue 1 this weekend.
