Kanu Nwankwo, the new chairman of Enyimba International Football Club, has pledged to take the club to new heights. The former Super Eagles player made the assurance on Tuesday, when he met with Governor Alex Otti of Abia State at the government house in Umuahia.
“I am determined to take Enyimba to a higher place,” Kanu said. “I have a lot of ideas and plans for the club, and I am confident that we can achieve great things together.”
Kanu thanked Governor Otti for appointing him to the position, and he promised to work hard to make Enyimba a success. He also called on all the great sons and daughters of Abia State to come together and support the club.
“I believe that Enyimba can be one of the best clubs in Africa,” Kanu said. “But we need everyone’s support to achieve that goal.”
The Chief of Staff to Governor Otti, Caleb Ajagba, said that the governor’s love for excellence made him appoint Kanu as the chairman of Enyimba.
“Governor Otti is a man who believes in excellence,” Ajagba said. “He knows that Kanu is a man of great achievements, and he is confident that Kanu can help Enyimba achieve greatness.”
Kanu is a two-time African Footballer of the Year, and he won the UEFA Champions League with Arsenal in 1999. He is also a former captain of the Nigeria national team.
Enyimba is one of the most successful clubs in Nigeria, having won the Nigerian Premier League eight times and the CAF Champions League twice. However, the club has struggled in recent years.
Kanu’s appointment is seen as a major coup for Enyimba, and it is hoped that he can help the club return to its former glory.
