CF Montreal snatched a thrilling 3-2 victory away from Inter Miami on Sunday, with substitute Ibrahim Sunusi scoring the decisive goal in the dying moments of the match.

Montreal started strong, taking an early lead through a Fernando Alvarez header. Inter Miami battled back, though, with Leonarda Campana equalizing in the 71st minute with a powerful header himself.

However, the home side’s joy was short-lived. A sloppy spell saw them concede two goals in quick succession. Matias Coccaro restored Montreal’s lead, before Sunusi, fresh off the bench, netted his first MLS goal of the season to make it 3-2.

Inter Miami pushed for an equalizer, with Jordi Alba finding the net with a spectacular left-footed shot from outside the box. But it proved too little too late, as Montreal held on to secure a valuable three points.

This win is a significant boost for CF Montreal, who now have two wins and a draw from their opening three games. Inter Miami, meanwhile, will be left rueing their defensive lapses after suffering their first defeat of the season. Sunusi’s late heroics will undoubtedly be the major talking point for Montreal fans, with the Nigerian forward hoping to build on this impressive performance.
