The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has pledged its full support to the fight against doping in football.
LFA Secretary General Atty Kollie Dorko made the assurance on Wednesday, July 19, at the close of a two-day anti-doping awareness workshop for over 100 stakeholders at the Colony Hotel in Monrovia, according to reports.
The workshop was organized by the LFA in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Medical Committee.
Dorko said the LFA is committed to creating awareness and educating players and team doctors on anti-doping.
“We look forward to subsequent workshops to train our people on how to compete in football without taking ban or prohibited substances,” he said.
Dorko also thanked the LFA Executive Committee and the Chairman of the Medical Committee, Dr. John Mulbah, for their support to the anti-doping campaign.
“Thanks to our Executive Committee members and chair of our Medical Committee Dr. John Mulbah, you have the support of the LFA and you can count on the secretariat because the president [Mustapha Raji] wants me to inform you that we’ll get this done to the end,” he said.
The workshop was attended by players, team doctors, coaches, referees, and other stakeholders from across Liberia.
The participants were taken through the different aspects of anti-doping, including the definition of doping, prohibited substances, and the consequences of doping.
They were also given tips on how to avoid doping and how to report doping cases.
The LFA is committed to creating a clean and fair playing field for all players in Liberia.
The anti-doping workshop is part of the LFA’s efforts to promote clean football in the country.
