Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jaber Al Thani, chairman of one of Qatar’s biggest banks, has confirmed that he has lodged a bid to buy Manchester United.

The announcement came just before the deadline of February 17, set by Raine Group, who are managing the sale of the club.

In a statement, Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani said that his bid plans to return Manchester United to its former glories both on and off the pitch. The bid also aims to place the fans at the heart of Manchester United Football Club once more. The Sheikh has promised that the bid will be completely debt-free, via his Nine Two Foundation, which will look to invest in the football teams, the training center, the stadium and wider infrastructure, the fan experience, and the communities the Club supports.
