The recently appointed Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango (Marafan Yakanaje Uke), assumed office on Wednesday with a resolute commitment to driving substantial progress in the realms of youth and sports development within the state.
Hon. Ango, a seasoned politician hailing from Uke in the Karshi Development Area of Karu Local Government, officially took up his position on the morning of August 16th, 2023.
As the new political head of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, he laid out his ambitious vision to enhance opportunities and prospects for the youth while fostering the growth of sports in the region.
Upon his arrival at the ministry premises, Hon. Ango was warmly welcomed by Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and other prominent Directors.
Acknowledging the collective effort required to bring about meaningful change, Hon. Ango expressed his eagerness to work collaboratively with the Ministry’s team, utilizing his extensive experience and connections to drive innovative initiatives.
In an exclusive closed-door meeting with Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi and the Directors, Hon. Ango underscored his determination to establish a level playing field that would enable the realization of the Ministry’s objectives.
He affirmed his commitment to supporting Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration and emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork to achieve their shared goals.
“I am new here, but rest assured that I will synergize with you, especially the Permanent Secretary, to ensure that we do all we can to ensure that Governor Abdullahi Sule succeeds in his administration,” Hon. Ango remarked. “In this life, no one knows tomorrow. Whatever you are doing, do it wholeheartedly.”
The Permanent Secretary, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, warmly welcomed Hon. Ango in his opening address. Highlighting their common values and objectives, he praised the new Commissioner as an astute politician, a partner in progress, and a prominent advocate for youth and sports development.
“We sincerely and warmly welcome you officially as the political head of this Ministry. We assure you of deep commitment and loyalty to the Government of Nasarawa State,” Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi affirmed. “We are your lieutenants. We believe you will lead us as the soldier ants do. The entire Management and Staff are ready to work to get the desired results.”
As part of his inaugural activities, the Permanent Secretary accompanied Hon. Ango on a tour of the Ministry’s offices, fostering an opportunity for the Commissioner to acquaint himself with the operations and personnel.
Hon. Ango’s appointment followed his nomination on July 28th, 2023, and subsequent screening and clearance on August 1st, 2023, by the State’s House of Assembly. His inauguration took place on August 14th, 2023, at the Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, alongside fifteen other Commissioners, under the auspices of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
With a wealth of experience including his prior role as Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Lands, as well as his history as Chairman of Karshi Development Area and Permanent Member of the Universal Basic Education Board, Nasarawa State, Hon. Ango stands poised to lead transformative efforts in youth and sports development, fostering a brighter future for Nasarawa State.
