The Ikon Allah Boys were left to rue missed goal scoring chances in defeat to hosts Abia Warriors in a week one NPFL encounter decided at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Abdulazeez Abarah’s Post-Match Reaction
Reacting during post match presser, Hamza Abarah said his team was punished for their missed chances.
“Abia Warriors are a good side, we missed several scoring chances that would have changed the narratives of the game, they got their chance and utilized it and that is what football is all about.”
Reacting to the question of his plans ahead of the next game, Hamza said… “It all depends on us, that’s our tactical aspect, we are going back to adjust, no need for our opponents to know.”
Match Summary
The hosts grabbed their goal courtesy of second half substitutes, Obi Samson who laid the ball beautifully to John Peter who cleverly slotted home from a close range.
The Ikon Allah Boys dominated proceedings in the first but failed to convert their chances.
Substitutes, Bashir Usman came close twice but was unlucky to restore parity, while Tasiu Lawal equally had a begging chance but missed it as the visitors dominated possession during closing stages of the game.

Hamza Abarah commended the arbiters for doing a yeoman’s job. “I don’t normally comment about officiating but today’s officials did a good job we hope they will continue like this”.
