The Nigeria women’s national football team, also known as the Super Falcons, is the national team of Nigeria that represents the country in international women’s football.

The Super Falcons have participated in every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since its inception in 1991, with their best performance coming in 1999, when they reached the quarter-finals. They have also qualified for the Olympic Games on three occasions, in 1996, 2000, and 2016.

In recent years, the Super Falcons have struggled to replicate their earlier success, with their last major tournament win coming in 2010 when they lifted the African Women’s Championship. Despite this, the team has continued to be a force to be reckoned with on the continent, and they are always a strong contender at the African Women’s Championship.

Off the pitch, the Super Falcons have faced numerous challenges, including a lack of funding and support from the Nigerian Football Federation. In 2015, the team went on strike to protest against the lack of proper facilities and support, which caused them to miss the World Cup. However, with the help of the players and their unions, the team was able to secure better support and resources, leading to improved performances in recent years.

Despite the challenges they have faced, the Super Falcons remain a source of pride and inspiration for women’s football in Nigeria and across Africa. Their success on the pitch has helped to promote the sport and inspire a new generation of young female footballers in the country.
