The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has updated its league rankings and the results have been released, NPFL missed out on the top ten
According to the updated rankings, the Botola league from Morocco is still leading the pack, with the Egyptian Premier League holding onto second place. Algeria’s Ligue 1 has also held steady in third place.

South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) has climbed one spot to take fourth place, while Tunisia’s Ligue 1 has dropped down one spot to fifth place. The Linafoot league from the Democratic Republic of Congo has maintained its sixth-place ranking, while Tanzania’s Ligi Kuu league has jumped an impressive four spots to take seventh place.
Angola’s Girabola league has dropped one spot to eighth place, while Sudan’s Premier League has dropped one spot to take ninth place. Guinea’s Ligue 1 is holding steady in 10th place, while Libya’s Premier League is in 11th place.
The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) is still struggling to make it into the top ten, currently sitting in 12th place.
The CAF league rankings are based on the performance of clubs in continental competitions over the past five years. The rankings are used to determine the number of spots allocated to each country in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
The Botola league has maintained its top ranking due to the strong performances of Moroccan clubs in continental competitions. The Egyptian Premier League has also consistently produced strong performances in continental competitions, while the PSL has been on the rise in recent years.
Tanzania’s Ligi Kuu league is the most impressive climber in the rankings, jumping four spots from 11th to seventh place. The league’s top team, Simba SC, reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League this season.
The updated rankings show that the top leagues in Africa are becoming increasingly competitive, with a number of leagues making strides to improve their rankings.
