Following the controversial red card shown to Jude Bellingham in Real Madrid’s La Liga draw against Valencia, the club has announced their intention to appeal the decision, according to Arancha Rodriguez. This means the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee will review the incident next week.

Bellingham’s dismissal came after he was denied a last-minute goal, which appeared to have crossed the line before the final whistle. The midfielder’s vehement reaction towards referee Gil Manzano resulted in a red card.

Real Madrid’s decision to appeal suggests they believe the red card was unjustified, potentially arguing that the whistle was blown prematurely or that Bellingham’s reaction, while emotional, did not warrant a dismissal.

The Competition Committee’s assessment next week will determine whether the red card is upheld, rescinded, or potentially changed to a yellow card. If the appeal is successful, Bellingham will be available for Real Madrid’s next match. However, if the red card stands, he will face a suspension.
