Remo Stars continued their unbeaten run against Shooting Stars with a resounding 3-0 victory in the Southwest Derby at the Remo Stars Stadium on Wednesday.
The Sky Blue Stars took the lead in the 20th minute through Ahmed Akinyele, who headed home from Sodiq Ismail’s corner. Remo Stars doubled their lead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot, after Franck Mawuena was brought down inside the area. Sikiru Alimi stepped up and coolly converted the spot-kick.
Shooting Stars tried to get back into the game in the second half, but they were unable to break down Remo Stars’ resolute defence. Alimi got his second goal of the game in the 63rd minute, tapping home from close range after Ismail had set him up.
Remo Stars held on comfortably for the win, which sees them move up to the top of the NPFL table. Shooting Stars, on the other hand, remain in 10th place.
