The South African Football Association (SAFA) has submitted seven stadiums for consideration as host venues for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The stadiums are:
- FNB Stadium (Johannesburg)
- Orlando Stadium (Johannesburg)
- Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban)
- Peter Mokaba Stadium (Polokwane)
- Cape Town Stadium
- Mbombela Stadium (Nelspruit)
- Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (Port Elizabeth)
The stadiums were selected based on their capacity, FIFA standards, and location. The FNB Stadium, which is the largest stadium in Africa, will be the main venue for the tournament. The other stadiums will host group matches, knockout matches, and the final.
The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be the first time that the tournament has been held in Africa. The bidding process is still ongoing, and the host country will be announced in 2024.
The submission of the seven stadiums is a major step forward for South Africa’s bid to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The country has a strong track record of hosting major sporting events, and the stadiums are all of a high standard. If South Africa is successful in its bid, it will be a major boost for women’s football in the country and the continent.
