Nigeria’s Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, acknowledged the attacking threat posed by their upcoming opponents, South Africa, but remains confident in his team’s ability to perform well.
The two teams are set to clash in a crucial two-legged tie for a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics. South Africa, the reigning Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions, are coming off a strong showing in the continental tournament.
“They’re a very good side,” Waldrum told NFF TV. “They’re the defending African Champions so we need to have some respect for them. I love some of their talent especially up-front. They’re very dangerous and I know their coach does a really good job.”
Despite acknowledging South Africa’s strengths, Waldrum emphasized his faith in the Super Falcons. “Like I said before, I really like our team and I have all the confidence in our players that we’ll perform well,” he declared.
The first leg of the tie will be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, April 5th, with the return leg taking place at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, April 9th. Both teams will be looking to secure their place in the prestigious Olympic Games.
