Having witnessed the conclusion of the first round of matches on Tuesday, Nigeria stands as the only African flag-bearer yet to endure defeat. The Super Falcons drew their opening match against Canada, but they will be hoping to secure a victory against Australia in order to keep their hopes of advancing to the knockout stages alive.

With a legacy of nine-time champions of Africa and a consistent participant in every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nigeria holds the responsibility of being the true giant and beacon of hope for the African continent in Australia. While the hopes of Morocco, Zambia, and South Africa lie in their potential to overturn their previous results, the focus now turns to the Super Falcons to carry the torch and keep Africa’s song resounding.
