  • The transfer is still in the early stages, but it is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

French Ligue 2 side Valenciennes FC have opened talks to sign Makabi Lilepo from Sudanese club Al Hilal. The 26-year-old Congolese winger has informed Al Hilal that he wants to leave the club for a new opportunity elsewhere.

Al Hilal are willing to sell Lilepo for close to USD $1 million. He scored 9 goals in 21 appearances last season and is considered to be one of the best young wingers in Africa.

Lilepo has not yet joined the rest of his Al Hilal teammates in Morocco for the CAF Champions League, which is due to start next month. This suggests that he is close to a move to Valenciennes.

If the move is completed, it will be Lilepo’s first experience of playing in Europe. He is expected to be a key player for Valenciennes in their bid to win promotion back to Ligue 1.
