Former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has heaped praise on Thomas Partey, saying that the midfielder is “great” and “impresses me greatly.”
Van Persie, who played for Arsenal from 2004 to 2012, made the comments in an interview with Arinda Ozillian on Facebook.
“If there is any player in that Arsenal dressing room that impressed me greatly is no other person than Thomas Partey,” Van Persie said. “He was great and you could see his distributions in that Arsenal midfield and he scores too.”
Van Persie went on to say that losing Partey would be a big blow for Arsenal.
“Losing such a player without a brilliant replacement will really affect Arsenal, and Arteta knows these, he needs to stay & help them do great next season,” Van Persie said.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for a fee of £45 million. He has made 69 appearances for the Gunners, scoring six goals.
The midfielder has been a key player for Arsenal since his arrival, and his absence would be a major loss for the team.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is aware of the importance of Partey to the team, and he will be hoping that the midfielder can stay fit and help the Gunners challenge for trophies next season.
