VAR Demand in Nigeria Premier Football League as Doma United FC Coach Calls for its Introduction

In an interview after his team’s 1-0 win against Dakkada FC, Doma United FC coach Akinade Onigbinde called for the implementation of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

He cited a possible goal that was not given by the referee as an example of how VAR could have made a difference. Onigbinde also expressed his desire to finish second or third in the league table.

The coach of Dakkada FC, Danladi Umar, also commented on the match, noting his team’s performance and the hostility of the fans at the venue. “My boys did well, it just didn’t go our way. However, we saw the little lapses and we will correct them and move on. The fans were very hostile.” Danladi reveals

Forward Ugoche Emmanuel, who made his debut in the NPFL, scored the winning goal for Doma United in the 59th minute.

“That was a goal, it’s time to call for VAR into our football. We were supposed to make use of the advantage because the ball passed through the line; I saw the ball, it was a goal.” Oniginde comments via Punch Newspaper

Both teams will be getting set for match day four and hoping for better out come.
