Xavi Simons Linked with Summer Move to Arsenal: Transfer Boost for Gunners 2

Recent reports suggest that the chances of a deal being struck between the parties have increased, with Arsenal rumored to possess a secret weapon that could aid their pursuit of the talented midfielder.

Xavi Simons, a 20-year-old Dutch professional footballer, has enjoyed a stellar debut season at PSV after joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain last summer. With an impressive record of 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances, Simons has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal. The Gunners’ interest in the young talent has been described as “emphatic” in a recent report.

One factor that potentially strengthens Arsenal’s position in the race for Simons’ signature is the buyback clause included in his contract with PSG. The clause stands at a relatively low €12 million (£10.3 million), likely due to Simons leaving the French club on a free transfer. While this may initially appear to give Paris Saint-Germain an advantage, Arsenal may have a secret weapon up their sleeve.

Last month, Simons made a significant decision by changing his agent from Rafaela Pimente to Darren Dein. The connection between Darren Dein and Arsenal is notable, as his surname is recognizable to the Gunners due to the involvement of his father, David Dein, a former co-owner and vice-chairman of Arsenal. This change in representation has fueled speculation of a potential move to the Emirates Stadium for Simons.

Although Simons’ tenure with Paris Saint-Germain ended abruptly, there are clear associations between the Dein family and Arsenal, which suggests that a transfer to North London may be on the horizon. Dutch journalist Aad de Mos weighed in on the matter, expressing his belief that Simons’ switch in agents indicates his search for new opportunities, possibly at Arsenal. De Mos also noted the connections that Simons’ new representatives have within the Gunners’ circles.

PSV’s technical director, Earnest Stewart, is aware of the growing interest in Simons and recognizes the importance of keeping the talented midfielder at the club. “That should be priority number one for PSV, and steps need to be taken quickly,” De Mos emphasized in an interview with Dutch publication Eindhovens Dagblad via Voetbal Zone.

As the summer transfer window unfolds, the intrigue surrounding Xavi Simons’ potential move to Arsenal continues to grow. The Gunners’ secret weapon, Darren Dein, and his connections to the club have provided them with an edge in the race for the young midfielder’s signature. It remains to be seen whether PSV can retain Simons or if Arsenal’s “emphatic” interest will culminate in a transfer that could further bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
