Zambia women’s soccer player Reachel Kundananji has complained about the boots she and her teammates were wearing in their 5-0 loss to Japan on Saturday.
Kundananji told Minister of Sports Elvis Nkandu that the boots were too small, had short studs, and were made of rubber. She said that the boots were uncomfortable and made it difficult for her and her teammates to move on the field.
“The studs on the boots are too small,” Kundananji said. “They are too slippery and they have rubber studs with no metals in them. This made it difficult for us to get traction on the field.”
Kundananji’s complaint has raised concerns about the quality of equipment provided to the Zambia women’s soccer team. The team is currently playing at the 2023 FIFA women world cup held in New Zealand and Australia. Preview Nigeria vs Canada FIFA women world cup
Minister Nkandu has promised to investigate Kundananji’s complaint and to ensure that the team has the proper equipment for the upcoming tournament.
The Zambia women’s soccer team has been a rising force in African women’s soccer in recent years.
