The Portuguese tactician brings four World Cup tournament appearances to his CV as a manager, but has only managed three wins across those campaigns — a record that will raise questions among Ghana supporters about whether he is the right man to rebuild the Black Stars following their turbulent recent years.
Queiroz’s most famous managerial stint was with Portugal, where he worked alongside a golden generation that included Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe, Deco, and Ricardo Quaresma. He subsequently led Iran to multiple World Cup appearances, establishing a reputation as an organiser and tactician capable of making disciplined defensive structures competitive against stronger opposition.
His arrival in Ghana comes at a critical juncture. The Black Stars are looking to rebuild their identity and competitive edge ahead of the 2030 World Cup cycle, and the appointment of a high-profile, experienced international coach signals ambition from the Ghana Football Association.
