The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced two blockbuster international friendly matches for the Super Eagles against European powerhouses Poland and Portugal, scheduled for June 2026.
In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, confirmed the fixtures, describing them as “crucial tests” for the three-time African champions.
The matches are designed to keep the Super Eagles active and competitive under head coach Éric Chelle, following the team’s recent outings in Antalya, Turkey, where they secured a 2–1 victory over Iran and a 2–2 draw against Jordan.
Match Details and Venues
According to Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, the NFF’s official FIFA match agent, the dates and locations for the double-header are as follows:

Nigeria vs. Poland: June 3, 2026, at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.

The clash against Portugal is expected to be a high-stakes encounter, serving as the final preparatory game for the Seleção das Quinas before they depart for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Tactical Evolution and Squad Depth
Olajire emphasized that these fixtures are pivotal for the technical crew to evaluate the progress of the squad against elite opposition.
“These fixtures are very important for us as a team seeking to build momentum and cohesion ahead of major competitions,” Olajire stated. “Playing against Poland and Portugal offers us the chance to measure our strength against quality sides and make necessary adjustments.”
The NFF spokesperson added that the June window provides Coach Chelle with a prime opportunity to experiment with tactical approaches and integrate new talent into the national setup.

The friendlies form part of a packed summer schedule for Nigeria. Before heading to Warsaw, the Super Eagles are slated to defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament in London from May 26 to May 30.
