Liverpool have signed highly-rated 20-year-old French centre-back Jérémy Jacquet from Stade Rennais for £55 million, beating Chelsea in the race for his signature. Confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the deal is part of Liverpool’s major defensive rebuild under new manager Andoni Iraola. Jacquet, who came through PSG’s academy and draws comparisons with Dayot Upamecano, has signed a long-term contract at Anfield.
